Edmonton Oilers set for Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final
Oilers face Florida Panthers in search of series lead
Game 1 set for Saturday night at Amerant Bank Arena
The Edmonton Oilers are one win away from taking a 1-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final as they face the Florida Panthers in Game 1 on Saturday night at Amerant Bank Arena.
The Oilers earned a hard-fought 4-3 overtime win in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. Connor McDavid scored the game-winning goal in overtime to send the Oilers to their first Stanley Cup Final since 2006.
The Panthers, meanwhile, advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history with a 4-3 overtime win over the New York Rangers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final on Friday night. Aleksander Barkov scored the game-winning goal in overtime to send the Panthers to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Oilers and Panthers are both evenly matched teams, so Game 1 is sure to be a close one. The Oilers have the advantage of having more experience in the Stanley Cup Final, but the Panthers have been playing well lately and they will be looking to make a statement in Game 1.
Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night. The game will be televised on NBC.
